GreenYellow continues to make progress in Cambodia
GreenYellow has been investing for several years in Cambodia, a country with one of the strongest economic growth rates in Southeast Asia, and which also faces the dual challenge of energy transition and the country’s increasing need for electricity to support its development.
In this context, GreenYellow has worked with the Cambodian private sector to implement several decentralized solar energy projects despite a complex regulatory framework.
Thus, since July 2021, more than 6 MWp of solar projects have been secured, both rooftop installations to supply private customers and ground mount projects supplying the electrical grid, whose needs have been growing. These projects are designed to help our customers meet their commitments to reduce carbon emissions and to secure energy production in a country where demand is rapidly rising.
For example, the first phase of the AEON MALL Sen Sok City project (the largest shopping mall in Phnom Penh), in the form of business analysis, was successfully concluded and has lead to the signing of a turnkey EPC contract for the implementation of the project for a capacity of 2.1 MWp.
Another example was the start of construction on the first Operational Leasing Contract for a rooftop installation of 400 kWp (Phase 1) to supply Betagro Group's factory (a major Thai player in the food industry). A potential second phase extension of 800 kWp could follow.
The success of these projects is due to the adaptability (contractual schemes), resilience, and creativity of the local team when faced with regulatory challenges in a country as full of them as Cambodia is.
